Netgear Router Toolbox by Neo - www.routertech.org
--------------------------------------------------
==================================================

This software can be used to obtain various useful bits of info from your NETGEAR DG834GT router. You may have purchased this router separately or you may have received it when you signed up for Sky Broadband.

While it's possible that this software might work with similar routers, no guarentee can be made on this.

Basic Setup
===========

Ensure that the IP address is that of your router and that the username and password entered are the same as those you use to log in to the router. The default values will apply to Sky Broadband customers.

Then simply select one of the list of options under the "What do you want to do?" heading. You may choose from the following:

* ADSL Stats - this fetches the ADSL (modem) stats from your router. This may be useful when you want to check the quality of the Internet connection and can also be vital when trying to troubleshoot a flaky connection.

* ISP Login details - this will fetch the ISP login details which can then be used in any compatible ADSL router/modem.

* Start Telnet - by default, the Netgear DG834GT doesn't have a telnet server running, making impossible to telnet in to the router. If you select this option, a telnet server (daemon) will be started on the router, allowing you to then telnet in to the router.

* Stop Telnet - stops the telnet server started with the "Start Telnet' option.

ADSL Stats Monitoring
=====================

This software is able to monitor the ADSL stats of your Netgear router at regular intervals, providing a clear picture of how the connection varies over time. To enable this, do the following:

1) Choose a filename for the stats to be saved to (the default is "stats.csv").
2) Choose an interval in minutes (you may use fractions, e.g. 0.5 would be 30 seconds).
3) Tick "Save stats to file".
4) Click on the 'Start Monitoring' button.

The program will then check the ADSL stats on a regular basis and save the stats to the file you specified. The file will be in CSV format which can be opened by any compatible software (such as Microsoft Excel).

System tray
-----------

You may wish to click on the 'Send to System Tray' button to hide the main window while monitoring.

Right-clicking on the icon in the system tray will display a menu from which you will be able to:

* RESTORE - restores the main window and make it visible again
* START / STOP MONITORING - starts or stops the ADSL stats monitoring
* EXIT - close the Netgear Router Toolbox software
